WHAT IS SEASONAL SERIES?
Following the successful launch of Brighton Trail Weekend in 2022, we would like to invite runners and walkers to participate in the pilot event of our second trail adventure on Sunday 18 September. Seasonal Series will be an exclusive, first-ever opportunity to complete an incredible 10k route in and around the estate of Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens in West Sussex.
Experience a breathtaking course on woodland trails, and along the meandering garden pathways that lead down to seven tranquil lakes.
After taking part, share your feedback to help us develop the full Seasonal Series, which we aim to host across all four seasons for an immersive trail experience like no other.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We have planned a challenging yet beautiful 10k trail route for all levels of runner. Expect to run (or walk) through the one of the most stunning settings at a trail event. Participants will marvel at rare Acer trees, expansive lakes, later flowering shrubs, sculptures and an array of wildlife (including wallabies and deer!).
The event will be timed and marshalled to offer you a traditional running experience in a non-traditional setting.
Full information about entries opening, travel, and the route will be sent to all those who sign up in the Participant Instructions. In the meantime, please see the FAQS below.
Entry to Leonardslee will be free for participants and discounted for friends & family.
“The garden is a true paradise and has many species of wild orchids and wildflowers as well as an amazing collection of trees, Rhododendrons, Azaleas, and Camellias.”
A DAY TOGETHER
There will be something for everyone at Seasonal Series this September. We are aiming to create a running event that offers a day out for participants and their supporters in spectacular surroundings with plenty to see and do for all.
Leonardslee is a private garden with an array of flora and fauna, which changes seasonally to create unique and beautiful landscapes. A Victorian mansion and gardens restored to their former glory and reopened to the public in 2018, Leonardslee boasts beautiful plants, walks, lakes and woodlands and has a plethora of wildlife living in the grounds including deer and even wallabies.
Also on offer is excellent food, drink and picnics. Find out more on their website. Also find more information about discounted entry for your supporters below.
How much is it?
Entry price for the pilot event is £20. This will include full access to Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens after the run, normally £14.50.
What is the offer for friends and family?
You can purchase a £5 day-entry to Leonardslee for each supporter when registering, saving £9.50 each (free day-access for your supporters under the age of 16 - usually £6.50.)
How old do you have to be to take part?
Entrants must be 16+ on the day of the event
Will there be parking on site?
There is ample parking for 800 cars on site and this will be free for participants. Details of parking access will be sent to all those who enter.
Will I receive a medal?
Yes all finishers will receive a medal.
Is the event timed?
We will be hand-timing this pilot event rather than chip timing. Using cameras and hand-timing devices will be able to share an accurate timing of your route after the event. We will be looking to introduce chip-timing for the official series.
Where is Leonardslee Gardens?
How can I get to Leonardslee?
There are no buses on Sundays to Leonardslee and the train will not get you to the start line in time so you will have to drive. Parking will be free and we will be encouraging Ride-Sharing via our Facebook page.
What is the route?
The route is a 10km loop exclusively on hard packed, undulating trails, and will take you through some stunning scenery. We are working on finalising our route and will share a graphical map ahead of the event. It will be marshalled and water will be provided at the start and finish.
